I am here to guide and empower you on your journey to strength and well-being.

Background

I have had a passion for helping people that started very early, from volunteering with Special Olympics to supporting fundraising efforts for Big Brother Big Sisters. My academic journey started at Purdue University where I studied Civil Engineering. As many people do, I experienced a significant life challenge and decided to change my career path. I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Communication and quickly began my work in the social services profession as a case manager & HIV/AIDS prevention coordinator at a residential treatment facility for adolescents with behavioral issues. From there I found my true love while volunteering with the Lakewood Police Department as a Victim Advocate where I provided on-scene crisis intervention for victims of violent crimes and trauma. I soon became a full time victim’s advocate and during my tenure at Lakewood I also started my own business teaching personal empowerment and safety education training to kids 3 ½ to 12 utilizing the r.a.d.KIDs system. I was also an adjunct faculty member in the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver, where I taught a course on Domestic Violence. In 2008 I was diagnosed with Cancer and left the workforce for a year to recover. When I returned to work, I decided to try something new, and I became a therapist/social worker with the Jefferson County Schools where I worked for 10 years. I am currently employed as an Assessment and Referral Specialist at a local emergency department. I provide comprehensive intake examinations and behavioral health assessments. My professional training, employment history, and life experiences have provided me with what I believe are a unique set of abilities. I am highly motivated, dedicated, and professional. I am adaptable with the ability to work with diverse groups of people. I actively seek opportunities for professional growth and learning. Outside of work and I am wife and mother of 2 young men. I love running, hiking and spending time with my family and our dog Stella. I have a passion for health and wellness and the connection between physical health and mental well-being. Throughout my life journey I have also found that I love mentoring parents to raise healthy children in this very complex world.
